Last week I saw a picture on Twitter of St. Edwards Church in Stow-on-the-Wold, it looked like something out of a fairy-tale so I did some research and found out some people think it was the inspiration for Tolkien’s entrance to Moria! The next day I headed for Stow-on-the-Wold and took some pictures of the church, after this it occurred to me that I lived in the middle of Tolkien country and there must be lots of places nearby that inspired Tolkien’s stories. So finding Middle Earth has become my project over the winter, I’ll be travelling around trying to take some fantasy style pictures of Tolkienesque places, maybe I’ll spot some Hobbits on my journey, I just wish I had a grey wizard to guide me.
MCM Comiccon November 2017 was my first comiccon since hospital and I wasn’t sure if it would be too exhausting or if I would feel ill so I just booked one day and hoped for the best.
The reason I’m writing this now is twofold, firstly after giving my last mental health workshop I suddenly realised I hadn’t once been asked about my mental health during my recent hospital stay, and secondly a talk at the Action Duchenne International Conference I attended at the weekend. I have been working with a group[…]
So Where Am I Now? I’m back at home and spent all of yesterday playing Wolfenstein: The Old Blood with my cousin on my brand new 55 inch TV, and today I intend to take the dogs on a short walk. Although I can’t manage too long in my wheelchair it’s still a long way from being in a hospital bed, so swollen I could barely move, with four drips attached to canulas in both my ankles!
After the drama of the first few days in hospital things did slowly improve, there was still the constant worry I’d have another angioedema episode, or that they would need to cut the open, but there was light at the end of the tunnel and I was starting to think I would really get home soon.
I thought I’d post something lighter after the last two posts, I’ll hopefully do the final (for now) instalment of that soon. I have been transferring my DVD/Bluray collection to a media server so I don’t have to ask someone every time I want to watch a firm or TV show, during this I came across something I’d completely forgotten about, a DVD labelled Watching Warblers West.
The Next Few Days – Don’t Fear the Reaper After the first night in hospital I was exhausted, in pain and scared, but I would try my best to get through this, I wouldn’t give up. These few days may not be entirely accurate with the order things are in and may jump around a[…]
I hadn’t had an unplanned hospital stay in my entire adult life, I had hoped I would never need to be admitted in an emergency, unfortunately this has all changed.
My Goddaughter bought me tickets for Star Wars Identifies at The O2 in London for Christmas, last week I went and it was great.
As an early Christmas present Mum bought me tickets to Marvel Universe Live, it would be my first time at a real show, I’ve been to the local theatre once but never something big at an arena, I’ve always been concerned about access and whether or not these things are worth the effort and planning.
I’ve managed to process the Photographs taken in London during my stay at The Royal Brompton, it helped me relax after my week away.
